Marvel's Agent Carter, starring Captain America's Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life-Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, along with the short Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. This could've been a great show; the characters are solid, Carter and Jarvis are amazing, and the characters that are deserving of scorn and ridicule are over the top enough to be amusingly awful while still feeling realistic. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell the people in charge of casting that people of color were able to find work in New York City before the civil rights movement; in fact, they'd been able to do so since before slavery ended. Instead, this show assumes that the only PoC that existed were criminals, and the only African-Americans in the city worked at a night club.<br/><br/>For a show that's trying to be progressive with a strong female lead, you'd think they could've noted a lot of the criticism that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D got when it first started (it should be noted that S.H.I.E.L.D. has definitely improved in this area since) and not make the same mistake twice, but clearly that's expecting too much. I rate Agent Carter 10 out of 10 stars! I looked forward to every Tuesday night checking in with my friend (yes, it felt like we were pals) Peggy. This show delivers everything I am looking for and need in television.<br/><br/>We have brains, brawn, beauty, brilliance…and that only covers some of the B-words! (I am being silly, but I could go on and on with adjectives) What I like most about this show is the promotion of women and empowerment. Women today can still relate to Peggy Carter because sexism is alive and thriving.<br/><br/>I love we see a strong and smart woman taking matters into her own hands and working on something she wholeheartedly believes in–and kicking arse.<br/><br/>Excellent writing, excellent action sequences, excellent supporting cast (Hey Enver!) and overall an excellent experience!!! Please deliver more AGENT CARTER !!! (A feature film or additional seasons of the series)
